Director Jackson-Shaheed is an experienced and respected public health leader, educator, and researcher in Connecticut. Currently, she serves as the Director of Health & Human Services for the City of Hartford and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Bridgeport, Masters of Public Health Program. Her mission is to promote an environment conducive to healthy lifestyles, and to
prevent adverse health outcomes. Her prior tenure was with the City of Bridgeport, as the Director of Health & Social Services. Director Jackson-Shaheed is a Neuro-Epidemiologist and Public
Health Executive with over 10 years of public health experience. She received a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center School of Public Health.
Director Jackson-Shaheed has completed her Post- Graduate Fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine specializing in Neurology. Her research focus has been on Neurological and Psychiatric disorders within the veteran population. She is a published scientific author, publishing in Journals such as JAMA Psychiatry, Neurology Clinical Practice,
Heliyon, Neuropsychiatric Disease and Treatment, and Pediatric Neurology.
In addition, she serves on various state and university boards & committees. Director Jackson-Shaheed has expanded and promoted health equity, enhanced social services, and has
prioritized and instituted research labs in her health departments. She enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and genealogy.
