Dr. Kenneth Gordon is the senior epidemiologist for the Blue Ridge Health District based in Charlottesville, VA. He has 25 years of experience working in the public health field in a variety of posts. He was the regional health surveillance officer for Jamaica’s Western Region for 10 years before moving to Nebraska in 2017 where he transitioned to observing quality control on farms and industrial hygiene for large corporations. Kenneth has been with the Blue Ridge Health District since 2020 and led the epidemiology department through the worst of the COVID pandemic in an exemplary manner. He has established fulfilling working relationships with community stakeholders, such as the University of Virginia Health System and Sentara Health, to collaborate on public health concerns ranging from C. auris outbreaks to rare disease investigations (like diphtheria and melioidosis). Kenneth has shown repeatedly in his role as senior epidemiologist his insight, acumen, and compassion for the community he serves and for his colleagues and his mastery of various elements of public health, as well as his generous spirit, wisdom, and adeptness, has helped bring the Blue Ridge Health District to the forefront of excellence in Virginia.
